We are currently seeking an experienced workers comp attorney to join our team! Our firm has been a trusted leader representing injured and disabled workers for almost 50 years. The Attorney must have vast knowledge in Workers Compensation and be able to handle complex legal cases. This role requires knowledge in Litigation and must be able to provide solid legal advice to our clients.
Location: Woodbury, NY (Long Island)
Work Preference: Onsite to start then Hybrid after getting acclimated
Salary: $130k+
Job Description
-Litigating workers' compensation cases through all phases.
-Excellent client relation skills.
-Communicate with claims representatives.
-Monitor loss run reports for trends and increases and alerts management to concerns.
-Gathering medical evidence and medical records.
-Taking depositions of the claimant, physicians, medical experts, and other parties.
-Conducting discovery.
-Performing legal research.
-Remaining current with developments in the law.
-Drafting pleadings, findings of fact, motions, briefs, opinions, and other legal documents.
-Litigating cases before a general liability or workers' compensation judge or referee.
-Represent the interests of the employer or insurer at hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings.
-Assist with the investigation of accidents and problem areas.
-Manage workers' compensation costs to reduce liability.
-Compile and submit reports required by company management.
-Coordinate and attend claims reviews.
-Negotiate settlements on behalf of the insurance company.
-Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
-2+ years of experience in workers compensation defense
-JD and bar license in NY
-Working knowledge of legal principals and practices
-In depth knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations
-Thorough knowledge of legal research techniques and legal terminology
-Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure
-Ability to work as a team and independently
-Firm and Client confidentiality required
