Position Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing all phases of heavy highway and civil construction projects, ensuring their successful completion on time, within budget, and according to specifications. This role involves leading project planning, coordination, scheduling, cost control, safety, quality assurance, and communication with internal teams and external stakeholders including INDOT, municipalities, clients, vendors, and subcontractors. The Project Manager serves as the key point of contact between the office and the field, ensuring operational efficiency and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and define project scope and objectives in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop detailed project schedules and manage resources effectively.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and teams to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Monitor project progress and implement necessary changes to meet deadlines.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on project status, risks, and issues to management and stakeholders.
  • Manage project budgets and ensure financial accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Resolve any conflicts or issues that arise during the construction process.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or related field preferred; or eight (8) years equivalent experience in heavy highway construction
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience managing INDOT heavy highway or civil infrastructure projects is required
  • Experience with estimating, scheduling, and project financials is highly valued
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project), with familiarity in Bluebeam, OnStation, ITAP, or other project management software/applications preferred
  • Hands-on field construction experience is a plus

Working Environment

  • Time split between office and field environments (approximately 50/50)
  • Work long hours and potentially 6 days a week, with the understanding nights could be needed
  • Travels up to 125-mile radius from the main office
  • Interaction with internal departments (e.g., Safety, Accounting, Field Operations) and external partners (e.g., clients, municipalities, subcontractors)
  • Must be comfortable working in high-pressure, deadline-driven settings
